Determining the effectiveness of antivirals in the treatment of Fibromyalgia (FMS) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)
Clinical Trial Statis:
The patient portions of the clinical trial have been completed. The statical information has been submitted for review. Dr. Dantini is accepting new patient using this protocol.
Purpose:
The purpose of the study is to determine the effectiveness of antivirals in the treatment of fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
Patient eligibility:
- Patient must be between the ages of 20 and 60.
- There must be a presumptive diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia with migratory pain and/or significant fatigue. Patients may also have depression, sleep disturbances, GI symptoms, headaches, and short-term memory impairment.
- Patient must have normal sed rate, C-reactive protein, normal x-rays of spine joints (where related pain occurs). Lab tests results done within three months of the study starting date will be deemed acceptable and not repeated. X-rays done within 1 year will be deemed acceptable and not repeated.
- Patients must agree to participate in a double-blind study where they may be assigned to the placebo group. As compensation for participation, placebo patients will be given six weeks of drug following conclusion of the study.
- If patients are accepted for the study, they must agree to be seen in examiner's office for an initial evaluation and 2 follow-up visits and interim telephone assessments.

Dr. Dantini will conduct all medical evaluations at his office.

Further trial information:
Qualified participants will receive the study medication at no cost. Laboratory testing will be covered by patients medical insurance and done at lab of insurance company's requirement.
