ORLANDO -(Business News)- January 6, 2004 - Fibromyalgia Specialist, sister company of AllergicToFood.com, today gave an update on the grant Dr. Dantini has received from a major drug maker to do double-blind clinical trials for treating Fibromyalgia.

Dr. Dantini and staff are just a couple of months away from starting the patient recruitment and selection for the clinical study. "We've just received the first installment check of the grant. Key people that will help oversee the study, like the staff nurses, pharmacist, records manager, and the bio-medical statistician have been hired. A lot of time has been spent on setting the parameters of the study and getting all the documentation ready for review", said Dr. Dantini.

"Once the parameters are reviewed and signed off on, by the head of research of the drug maker, and the bio-medical statistician, it will go up for review by an independent review board. After the review board approves, we can start patient recruitment and selection. It is a very long and detailed process, but everything has to be in strict accordance with FDA regulations".

The head of research of the drug maker has been working real closely with Dr. Dantini for months now; making sure everything is done thoroughly. Sources say that this is a very important project for the drug maker due to patent expirations of existing prescription medicines on the market. In addition, they also have other anti-virals not currently on the market that could potentially be used to treat Fibromyalgia.
